Recent studies actually support the use of "freestanding" birth centers as a safe alternative to hospitals. They show that birth centers are as safe as hospitals when providing care to low risk women.

Most of the time our transfers to the hospital are not emergencies and in the event during your labor it is determined that it would be better for you to deliver in the hospital, we will arrange it with one of our consulting physicians and accompany you to the hospital. We will remain there with you until a few hours after the baby is born.
